Student Store From Janet Munson, a learning disabilities teacher at Emily Gray Junior High School in Tucson, Arizona: "Another teacher and I supervise the Buy'n Bolt student run store. We've incorporated raising capital skills by selling $2 shares of stock to students and adults on our campus. The students order their own merchandise and open the store 20 minutes before school starts. Along with developing math skills, our students have raised self-esteem from seeing an accomplishment of theirs win grants and kudos from district personnel and parent groups. The store that I started as a course project at the University of Arizona has provided students with real life skills for six years." |
